10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Nov 13)

4. Disco Inferno Has Always Thought That NXT Is Over-Rated

During his heyday in WCW, Disco Inferno was a fine addition to the mid card pack. It seemed unlikely that he'd ever break through to the main event scene, but it cannot be denied that there was a time when the man was over. In WCW, Disco captured the World Television Championship twice, and had a single run as WCW Cruiserweight Champ into the bargain. It'd be easy to imagine that the man behind the character, Glenn Gilbertii understands the need for a place where aspiring wrestlers can hone their craft. Perhaps surprisingly, his opinion of WWE's NXT system is entirely negative. In Disco's mind, WWE are making a mistake by featuring the brand so heavily, pushing it right up there alongside what the main roster are doing. During a recent interview with Vince Russo, a long time friend of Disco's, the partially-retired star stated his belief that WWE are hampering their own product by featuring NXT as they are. Going on to say that hiring 'ex-ROH' wrestlers doesn't make the company look good, it's clear that Disco Inferno is not a fan of NXT. He even expressly stated that he's always viewed the brand as 'over-rated'.
