According to Ted DiBiase, Steve Austin was under immense pressure from backstage agents in the WWF to alter his style during his stint as 'The Ringmaster'. DiBiase told Wrestling Inc that he'd watch in horror as several notable figures warned Austin to change his ways and wrestle differently. At that point, Ted stepped in.

Taking his on screen client aside, DiBiase straight up told the future Stone Cold that he shouldn't bother changing a thing about his performances. In fact, DiBiase believed claims from agents that Austin "needed to do more" in the ring were complete rubbish. In the end, he was right.

DiBiase thought it might take Austin a bit longer to get over with the WWF audience, but could see that he had an organic feel to his matches and carried himself like a star. Who knows what might have happened had Steve buckled under the pressure and decided to go along with the crowd.
