10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Nov 3)
2. Mick Foley Didn't Understand His Run In At King Of The Ring '98
Knocked loopy by bumps off the Cell through an announce table and one through the structure's roof into the ring, poor Mick Foley suffered a multitude of injuries at King Of The Ring 1998. Finally receiving medical treatment backstage, he was lucid enough to realise he had to perform a run in on the WWF Title match between Steve Austin and Kane.
Nobody tried to stop Mick, even though he was a shambling mess. On The Ross Report, Foley said he had no idea why he was written to interrupt the match after he had been through Hell (literally). Surely he should have been allowed to rest, if for no other reason than to sell the bumps he had taken for The Undertaker moments before.
In hindsight, Mick believes running out to get involved in the Austin vs. Kane match was a mistake. He didn't think fans wanted to see him after the Hell In A Cell performance, because they wished to believe he had been mauled by 'Taker.
Someone should have called an audible and cancelled that booking.
