10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Oct 22)
2. Mick Foley Wanted Buried Alive Tombstone From In Your House 11
Speaking of Mick Foley, one of his most famous feuds ever came against The Undertaker in 1996. Hired by Jim Ross (who had been looking for a viable heel he could position against 'The Deadman'), Foley was dubbed Mankind and went under a grotesque leather mask. Cheerfully, the rivalry would re-energise Undertaker's career.
In October, 1996, Mankind was fresh off tearing the house down against Shawn Michaels the previous month. At In Your House 11: Buried Alive, he would face 'Taker in an aforementioned Buried Alive battle. For the purpose of the bout, the WWF commissioned a special tombstone emblazoned with both characters, the event's title and the date of the match.
This past Thursday marked 20 years since the clash, leading Foley to reminisce on Facebook. In his social media post, Mick revealed that he actually wanted the physical tombstone itself to take home with him.
Wishing to turn the object into a coffee table, Foley didn't end up getting what he wanted. This is believable, the quirky 'Hardcore Legend' is exactly the kind of guy who would make such a request.
