10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Oct 27)

The Wrestling Observer were quick to shoot down suggestions that Brock Lesnar was in the running to replace Roman Reigns at TLC. As Raw's Universal Champion, that might have made sense. Lesnar had also been feuding with Braun Strowman until recently, so fans would likely have accepted Brock in the one-night-only role.

WWE had someone else in mind for the gig. Dave Meltzer reported that it was actually Chris Jericho who was the creative team's favourite to become an honorary member of The Shield for the night. Y2J's schedule with his rock band Fozzy made the last-minute spot impossible, and that's when the idea of Kurt Angle wrestling was given serious thought.

Jericho's WWE return would have been fun, but it wouldn't have felt like a good fit for the serious tone of the 5-on-3 TLC match WWE were presenting. As shocking as it was to see Kurt Angle wrestling in such an environment, the main event was helped by his own intensity and the fact WWE could advertise his first match in the company for 11 years.
