10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Oct 9)

4. Vince McMahon Was Cool With NXT Women Headlining

At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, Bayley defeated Sasha Banks to win her first NXT Women's Title. After the match, Charlotte and Becky Lynch joined them in the ring to celebrate. The incident was called the 'Curtain Call', in reference to an earlier scenario in 1996 featuring members of The Kliq. Apparently, Vince McMahon absolutely loved it. Triple H has been ultra-supportive of what the girls of NXT can do since redeveloping the developmental system. Going to bat for the female performers, 'The Game' felt it was imperative that they co-headlined alongside Finn Balor and Kevin Owens. The latter Ladder Match between the male performers was chosen to go on last, but Triple H wanted to heavily feature the females too. Of course, Vince McMahon himself had to sign off on the idea of a women's match co-headlining. Over the years, McMahon hasn't really shown that he's willing to take women's wrestling seriously. Instead, Vince has seemingly always viewed Diva bouts as little more than distractions from the serious business of the other matches. According to Triple H, he was very impressed with what he saw from Bayley and Sasha Banks.
