As referenced during the introduction to this article, 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase must be considered one of the greatest characters WWF/WWE management have ever come up with. Specifically, it was Vince McMahon who concocted the basic premise of the persona, but he point blank refused to elaborate on details to DiBiase until he signed a contract.

All Ted was promised was that the WWF would do their best to present the character properly, all the while pushing DiBiase to the moon. Requesting some time to think about what was being put in front of him, DiBiase told ESPN in an interview that he was approached backstage by Terry Funk.

Keeping his words brief, Funk pulled DiBiase to one side and reminded him who was promising him the world. Vince McMahon was clearly invested in the 'Million Dollar Man' character, so Terry believed DiBiase should take the gimmick without hesitation.

That short chat went a long way to making up Ted's mind, and he put pen to paper on a WWF contract soon thereafter.
