Few who experienced his promos or colour commentary would take umbrage at the idea of Bobby Heenan being called one of the best performers in wrestling history. An all-round entertainer, Heenan was also keen to help heels get over with his announcing. In WCW, one of the men he took a shine to was a young Chris Jericho.

Trying desperately to get himself over amidst a sea of great heels like Hollywood Hogan, the rest of the nWo, Raven and others, Jericho admitted to Q Radio that Heenan's commentary was often better than his matches at the time. This isn't something Y2J thinks in retrospect either. It's something that crossed his mind at the time.

Feeling that other announcers were only trying to get themselves over at the expense of in-ring talent, Jericho always believed Bobby had the product's best interests at heart. When the Canadian turned heel in early-1997, Heenan was one of his biggest supporters and would often put him over as a major player on commentary.
