10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Sept 28)

5. Kofi Kingston Has Held WWE Tag Gold Longer Than Anyone Else

New Day SmackDown Champs

As of this past Tuesday, Kofi Kingston is a WWE record holder.

He, along with New Day cohorts Big E and Xavier Woods, had already shattered Demolition's long-standing run as WWE Tag-Team Champions, and now Kingston has his own individual achievement to crow about. Kofi, ex-phoney Jamaican, gospel singer and wearer of 'unicorn horns', has held tag-team gold in the company longer than anyone else.

The previous record holder was Billy Gunn, who has sustained reigns as part of The Smoking Gunns, The New Age Outlaws and with Chuck Palumbo. In total, Gunn held the straps for 953 days across 11 separate reigns. Kingston has now surpassed that; he hit 954 on Tuesday, and will race towards 960 by the start of next week.

Mr. Fuji is also up there with 932 days, but Kofi is out on his own. Even more impressively, he's managed this feat with just eight title reigns to his name. Although Fuji had five, he held the titles in a different era when changes weren't so frequent.
