Remember that shocked and stunned look on Becky Lynch's face when she became the first SmackDown Women's Title at Backlash 2016? Well, there was a reason for it. Becky was coming to terms with the fact she'd been chosen ahead of everyone else to hold the new title. That happiness would be her downfall.

During an appearance on Lilian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast, Becky revealed that she was almost embarrassed about being champion.

She'd never been a champ in WWE before, and the responsibility of being one was something she was ill-prepared to handle two years ago. As much as it's a different story now in 2018, Lynch told Garcia she'll never forget apologising to the female locker room for being handpicked as the first SmackDown Women's titleholder.

Becky was too worried about stepping on someone else's toes or offending another worker by appearing comfortable in her role. She didn't carry herself like a champion or a leader, and quietly doubted whether or not she was worthy of holding the thing.
