An exasperated Chris Jericho cornered Jerry 'The King' Lawler backstage and told the iconic announcer that he and his buddies were "killing" him. Y2J was referencing the comedic approach WWE's commentary team favoured for his feud with Dean Ambrose in 2016. Jericho was not a fan of the humour, because he wanted to make the angle serious.

Talking to Live Audio Wrestling about that time, Jericho said he also told Lawler not to giggle when Ambrose brought 'Mitch' the potted plant out for segments. Both wrestlers wanted to try something different and didn't fancy seeing their hard work descending into comedy. In fairness to Lawler, perhaps Jericho and Ambrose should have picked a different prop.

In all seriousness, Jericho has a point. He was building towards a violent 'Ambrose Asylum' match with Dean at Extreme Rules. As Jericho knew he'd be taking a nasty bump onto thumbtacks, he didn't want the announcers to keep relying on laughs to sell their segments.
