Announced on WWE's official website, Hornswoggle was drafted to Monday Night Raw in 2009 as part of the 'Supplemental Draft'. This ended his on screen association with Finlay, who stayed put on the SmackDown brand. Upon his arrival on Raw, Hornswoggle would engage in a feud with Chavo Guerrero. That wasn't the original plan.

Granting an interview to the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Hornswoggle revealed that he was actually supposed to continue his work as a manager on the flagship show. That October, Sheamus was moved from ECW to Raw, and the initial plans called for he and Hornswoggle to work as a pair.

Mere months later, Sheamus would win the WWE Title from John Cena at the TLC pay-per-view in December. Hornswoggle didn't divulge whether or not that would have went ahead had he been in the Irishman's corner. Surely with the little 'Leprechaun' by his side, Sheamus would have struggled to maintain a menacing feel to his character, something that could have made a top-line run more difficult.
