10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week

6. WWE Hall Of Blame

Another of Bruce Prichard's assertions was that "Macho Man" Randy Savage was under the influence of alcohol on the morning he phoned Vince McMahon to inform him that he was quitting the WWF, and heading to World Championship Wrestling. That may not immediately seem like the biggest deal, but Prichard states that Savage was "extremely drunk", which adds a whole new dimension to the mystery which still surrounds the beef between Randy and Vince. Quite clearly, Savage deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, nobody can deny that, the man was one of the most dynamic and exciting wrestlers McMahon ever had under contract, but Prichard's words do add a lot more intrigue. Savage would re-ignite his in-ring career with WCW, something McMahon wasn't convinced was the best decision for his wrestler-turned-announcer. Who knows what might have happened had Savage been allowed to step foot inside the ring with the WWF again, instead of being frozen out behind the commentary desk. We'll never know for sure, but Bruce Prichard's words seem to indicate that Savage was a less than happy camper during the latter part of his tenure with the company, and was willing to take the risk of jumping to WCW in order to wrestle full-time again. That is something fans have been aware of for years, but it's news to everybody that Savage was under the influence upon making the call.
