10 Wrestling Fan Complaints That Absolutely Suck

5. [Critic X] Is Too Negative

Here's the thing: a lot of "positive" pro wrestling coverage is performative.

You might recall, on January 12, a lot of people telling you not to "sleep" on NXT UK after TakeOver: Blackpool II. They don't now praise (or watch) the weekly Network show because the weekly Network show doesn't trend, has no buzz, and isn't good for The Numbers. They themselves are sleeping, having secured their 70 likes, and will emerge from the slumber in a few months to let you know that TakeOvers Always Deliver. There are people who follow nine thousand f*cking accounts to create a like-farm for insight-bereft popular takes.

Man, WWE really dropped the old ball with Dolph Ziggler in 2013, didn't they?

That is far more cynical than any bad review.

It's sometimes genuine, and that's absolutely fine. As an admitted cynic and pedant, it's far preferable to write from a positive position when that position is earned. Great wrestling irrespective of the company ignites the imagination, particularly when a promotion leaves itself in a position with multiple directions to take in the long-term. Speculation and compelling narrative breeds fast, passionate, effusive writing. A turgid and flat product takes an age to write-up because there are only so many Simpsons jokes one man can make.

Your writer penned this in a rush of positivity, as an example. Even the most "negative" of critics will heap praise on WWE, when that praise is earned.
