10 Wrestling Gimmicks More Disturbing Than You Think

1. Kane’s Mental Scarring & Trauma

At first, fans were told that Kane wore a mask because of physical scars from that fire The Undertaker started. WWE changed that when Kane bared his face in 2003, and instead claimed that he'd suffered mental scarring from years of trauma.

Yes, yes there was also the unfortunate side quest of drink-driving and necrophilia, but that was all-but-deleted in years to come. Instead, WWE focused more on thoughts that Kane had been mentally devastated by his upbringing, and the fact that his own brother had murdered their parents in a fiery blaze.

Add in suggestions that Paul Bearer was actually his father (meaning he's technically 'Taker's half-brother) and things get even more confusing. Kane was someone who never had a fair shot at life because he'd watched his folks get burned then had to work through serious trauma.

How disturbing.
