10 Wrestling Heel Turns That Should Be Erased From History
8. Hulk Hogan
This isn’t Hulk Hogan’s nWo run we’re talking about here, as to erase that from history would mean many millions of dollars being tossed out the window. This isn’t even about his brief nWo reunion which gave us Rock vs. Hogan at Mania 18, this is about his run in TNA that turned their big money problems into an all-out catastrophe, the effects of which are still being felt.
Now to be fair, the company had a million problems by the time Hogan made his debut in 2010, but one thing is for sure: people didn’t want to boo the guy at that stage in his career. Before his racist rants leaked, he was still loved by legions of fans. And with Hulkster unable to wrestle, there would be no point in him being a bad guy and hogging the spotlight once again from younger wrestlers. But that’s exactly what happened.
Six months into his run, he was revealed to be a part of “They” and once again he tried to take over a company, almost 14 years after his first attempt. It went over about as well as you would have expected.
Sure, Hogan as a face probably wouldn’t have made much of a difference in TNA, but it would have been a lot less tiring, and felt like less as a rerun had he just remained an authority figure who had the backs of the talent. Delete! Delete! Delete from TNA history!
