https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smd-V76maAE Ray Stevens is a pioneer in every sense of the word and his influence on the industry can still be seen today. Stevens debuted in 1950 and he wrestled around the world, but one of the reasons he isn't as well known today could be that there's simply not a lot of video footage that exist of his early career. He was known for taking many innovative bumps, including the corner bump that both Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels used during their careers. However, Stevens took the corner bump twenty years before it became common place and it was one of the many risky bumps he took during his career. Stevens became a star in San Francisco and his "bombs away" knee drop was one of the few top rope maneuvers preformed during the era. He wrestled in the AWA and formed a team with Nick Bockwinkel, along with manger, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan in the 1970s. He worked in the WWE in 1982 and despite being in the latter stages of his career, Stevens had some memorable matches during his short in the WWE, including wrestling Curt Henning. Ray Stevens was revolutionary with his in ring style and hopefully, he will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame as recognition for his forty year career.
