We know Rey Mysterio Jr.as a fan favorite, an amazing luchador and a man who overcame all the odds to become World Heavyweight Champion. We also know that he is a terrible father.

I don’t know how the law works on a state by state basis. I mainly only know things that pertain to people fighting in rings, but believe it or not, it is legal to gain custody of a child in a professional wrestling match in Washington, D.C. It least it was in 2005. That law may have since been changed.

At the show of the summer, a kid’s home life and really, his entire future was fought for in a match between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio Jr. Eddie kicked things off by saying he had a secret about Dominick, who we believed was Rey’s son, and had no reason to think otherwise.

But Latino Heat claimed HE was the real father. Obviously there was only one way to settle such an outlandish claim: a ladder match!

Lucky for the little boy, the man he knew as his father won the match, and he didn’t have to move, change schools and all that suddenly receiving a new dad in adolescence would entail. However, maybe Dominick would have been better off, as you have to really question Rey’s parenting skills if he was cool with possibly losing his kid on live TV.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
