7. Chris Jericho Vs. Steve Austin
When: WWF Vengeance 2001
What Happened: Things got off to a bad start for Chris Jericho when Vince McMahon joked about him becoming WWF Champion by telling The Undertaker business must be bad if they were making ‘Y2J’ champ. That had to feel like a real motivational show of faith from the boss, eh?
Jericho did go on to become the first ever Undisputed Champ at Vengeance 2001, but it was a crappy evening for him. After feeling his heart sink over Vince's comments and working a main event plodder vs. Steve Austin, the new champion returned to the locker room to find...no-one.
Pretty much everybody had left the building, but that was just the beginning of Jericho's nightmare. He returned to his hotel to celebrate solo, got locked out of his room, and ended up eating cold pizza in the hotel lobby when the receptionist wouldn't play ball on a replacement key.
Jericho's big night was bookended with misery.
