10 Wrestling Matches You Should Watch To Prepare For WWE Extreme Rules

8. The Rock Vs. Billy Gunn - Kiss My Ass Match (SummerSlam 1999)

There's a "Kiss Me Arse" match at Extreme Rules with Sheamus taking on Dolph Ziggler. The feud has been built up with Sheamus attacking Ziggler in a cheap way as a bully while Ziggler tries to fight back against his bitter rival. The "Kiss Me Arse" stipulation has been called Kiss My Ass before, most famously at SummerSlam 1999 when The Rock faced Billy Gunn. That Rock/Gunn match was far from a classic, but it was memorable because of the stipulation. Since Gunn was using the "Mr. Ass" name as a nickname, it was fitting for his character. He was in the heel role and WWE was trying to push him to the main event. They figured that working with The Rock would help. For the match, Gunn brought out a fat lady. She was there because Gunn was going to make The Rock kiss her ass. That means they already changed the stipulation from having the loser kiss the winner's ass to something different because they were going to involve this lady. The Rock ended up forcing Gunn to kiss the lady's ass (the crowd popped big for it) and then Rock went on to win rather easily with a Rock Bottom followed by a People's Elbow.
