10 Wrestling Matches You Won't Believe Happened In 2017

1. Ryback Vs. Colt Cabana

Whilst CM Punk pulls no punches when discussing his relationship - or lack thereof - with the McMahon-Helmsley hierarchy, he is generally pretty complimentary of his former WWE co-workers. Generally.

The one exception, of course, is Ryback, a man who Punk absolutely berated during the cathartic podcast appearance he made a few months after his departure, accusing the Goldberg doppleganger of being a reckless worker (the evidence for which being the botched finish of their 2013 tables match).

The host of that podcast, you may recall, was long-time associate of the Straight Edge Superstar Colt Cabana (aka Scotty Goldman), who at March's WrestleCon - as luck would have it - would become one of the first opponents Ryback has fought since leaving WWE last year.

The paths of two relatively young independent wrestlers crossing isn't exactly unusual - but it just seems ridiculously awkward to imagine the pair of them cordially mapping out a make-believe wrestling match despite their apparent real-life beef (the enemy of my friend is an enemy and all that).

To their credit, they actually acknowledged this sub-plot after grabbing a microphone at the beginning of the match. Perhaps Ryback doesn't take himself all that seriously after all.
