10 Wrestling Matches You Won't Believe Happened In 2017

2. Matt Riddle Vs. Dan Severn

You remember Dan Severn right? The former UFC star who rocked up in WWE in the late-'90s, where he became a pretty serviceable mid-carder, notable for his feud with fellow "real" fighter Ken Shamrock? Well, it turns out he still wrestles from time to time.

In fact, Severn has become a pretty sought-after booking for upstart wrestling promotions over recent years, perhaps his most notable appearance coming at WrestleMania 33 weekend, where he competed at Joey Janela's Spring Break against Matt Riddle.

The reason this match is notable is because both of its competitors have a background in MMA, marking one of the few occasions that a pair of actual, legit wrestlers have played make-believe inside the squared circle.

Riddle scored a submission-aided win inside the 10-minute mark at the climax of what was probably one of the more fun 'Mania weekend shows on offer. Here's to more of the same next year in New Orleans.
