10 Wrestling Moments So Bad You Almost QUIT
1. Steve Austin Makes A Deal With The Devil
From one hugely controversial 'Show of Shows' ending to another, and to that moment when 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin suddenly decided it was time for a monumental change.
After spending the majority of his time on top as the hottest babyface in the company, 'The Texas Rattlesnake' astonishingly turned to the dark side during his main event fight with The Rock at WrestleMania X-Seven, joining forces with bitter enemy Vince McMahon to bring the biggest event of the year to a close.
But instead of becoming the sort of "hot ass heel" (via WrestlingInc) that he thought he would in the time that followed this staggering moment, Austin's turn didn't go down very well with his passionate supporters at all.
No one wanted to boo the icon who'd whooped his boss' ass for years, and many clearly weren't that interested in sticking around to see what he got up to as WWE's whiny new top villain.
In fact, after bringing in a whopping 1,040,000 buys for that aforementioned Attitude Era 'Mania event, WWE's subsequent Backlash PPV dropped to just 375,000 buys.
And while some fans still just about stuck around - likely out of hope that Austin would eventually remember who he was and go back to his rebellious ways of old - it ultimately took the company over two decades to feel anywhere near as hot again after this particularly disastrous decision.
