10 Wrestling Moments That Broke The Internet

6. 18 Seconds

Anger. Sheer anger. That was the primary emotion felt by the internet after the opening "match" of WrestleMania 28, and it's easy to understand. Unlike Sting's loss three years later, which was more of a slow realisation ("oh, they're doing this again") - the fact that WWE had the gall to job Bryan out in such a way was shocking. It was a very thinly veiled middle finger to his legions of (predominantly internet-based) fans, and the response was volcanic. Angry fans gave Bryan a monumental reception on the following Raw, at which he was booked in a nothing more than a post-show dark match, and crowd footage soon found its way online. In attempting to bury the former World Heavyweight Champion, WWE had unwittingly created a monster babyface - and turned their new champ face as an equally unhelpful side-effect. Of all the internet-breaking moments on this list, this one was perhaps the biggest catalyst for change. Had fans not kicked up such a fuss over Bryan's 18 second loss, it's unlikely that we'd ever have seen his crowning moment of glory two short years down the line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF_kEtYlfBc
