9. Shawn Michaels Collapses

Here's a master at work.

Owen Hart blasted Shawn Michaels with a snappy enzuigiri on the 20 November 1995 episode of Raw, and ol' HBK played dead. That was the crucial bit - Shawn didn't writhe around holding the back of his head, or actually exhibit any well-known selling antics at all beyond the original sell job.

Instead, he went totally still a few minutes later and acted like he'd collapsed due to the earlier blow. Credit must go to Jim Cornette and Owen for playing along and hesitating as they looked at the prone, lifeless babyface. Even Vince McMahon entered the ring to try and determine how badly hurt Shawn was.

Fans around ringside were shocked by this, because they thought for sure they were witnessing Michaels black out before their very eyes. It was a work, of course, but nobody fully knew that at the time. Many believed that Owen had injured Shawn for real, and they feared the worst.
