10 Wrestling Moves That Worked For One Wrestler (But Not Another)

3. Chokeslam

It's not exactly hard to see why certain moves are often thrown at stars as a way of trying to get them over in front of a live crowd. In the case of the chokeslam, seeing a towering monster hoist up a sorry soul by their throat before dumping them back down to the ground with an almighty thud is enough to leave just about any audience needing a lie down.

But while this tactic undoubtedly worked when it came to presenting the likes of The Undertaker and Kane as indomitable forces of nature, Braun Strowman was a different kettle of fish altogether. After being broken away from his Wyatt Family unit, The Monster Among Men was set up to pulverise a string of unlucky goobers on Monday Night Raw in 2016.

Strowman wasn't just equipped with a new-found need to murder jobbers, though: he also came brandishing an inverted-chokeslam... well, for about five minutes. After it quickly became apparent that the move wasn't catching on and would likely be difficult to believably use on bigger folk, Strowman opted for the running powerslam finish.

The traditional chokeslam would then be shuffled into the rest of his "WWE Big Man" toolkit.
