10 Wrestling Myths Debunked

5. WWE Killed WCW/ECW/TNA

The claim that WWE killed off these three companies merits far greater detail than we're going to go into here, but in the most basic terms none of them died as a result of WWE's actions.

The simplest one to tackle first is TNA. If they had ceased to exist the only company to blame would be Total Nonstop Action for their dreadful decision making. Thankfully, they simply metamorphosed into Impact Wrestling which they exist as to this day. WWE can't kill what isn't dead.

Whilst WWE (and WCW) did consistently raid ECW's roster and Raw eventually took their TV slot, ECW went out of business because of a lack of money (the PPV company owed them a huge amount of money when their doors closed) combined with the inability to secure another national television deal.

Finally, WWE unquestionably contributed to WCW's demise and commandeered its stars and tape library after it was done, but when Time Warner merged with AOL and the higher ups at Turner Broadcasting decided it was no longer a place for professional wrestling, that was the final nail in WCW's coffin.
