10 Wrestling Romances That Ended In Disaster

3. Triple H & Chyna

The late Chyna and Triple H were together for the whole of her tenure with the WWF, having met when he and Shawn Michaels had lobbied for her to be hired into the company as a heater for D-Generation X.

Triple H was a teetotaler, as obsessed with the business back then as he is now. Chyna, on the other hand, had her demons, exacerbated by her issues with drugs and alcohol. The two lived together, but reports suggest that Triple H wanted a family while Chyna, worried this could mean the end of her wrestling career, resisted the idea.

The way Chyna told it, she found a love letter from Stephanie McMahon and, confronting Vince McMahon, was told to take some time to deal with it and then simply let go. Other stories have it that she asked for an impossible number during renegotiations, and the personal situation only made the company's decision easier.

Chyna's fall from grace in the years following her release is a matter of tragic record. She and Triple H never spoke again - years later, she would accuse him of having hit her during their relationship. Whether that was true or not is impossible to say - at that point, her substance abuse problem and mental health issues had been feeding off one another for so long that she wasn't the most reliable narrator of her own story.

However, it's pretty clear that the circumstances surrounding her release haunted her and left her isolated. Who knows what might have happened had things been handled differently?
