10 Wrestling "Shoots" That Were Total Works
1. Undertaker Invades UFC
It wasn't surprising to see The Undertaker at UFC 121 - after all, he was clearly an MMA fan, judging from the moves he'd spent years incorporating into his arsenal, and that "American Bad Ass" run showed that he had interests besides digging holes and taking souls. Nor was it shocking that Ariel Helwani interviewed him - many MMA fans during the late 2000s-early 2010s boom started out as fans of pro wrestling.
What was stunning was that during the interview - which was conducted right after Brock Lesnar lost the UFC Heavyweight Title to Cain Velasquez - the ex-champion walked past 'The Phenom' and words were exchanged. Lesnar muttered something at 'Taker, and the WWE legend responded by asking, "You wanna do it?" When pressed about the face off by Helwani, Undertaker merely explained, "It's personal."
Even the most jaded of wrestling fans were excited by the legitimate-feeling showdown, which got over a million views on YouTube in a matter of days. A little later, though, details began to emerge. It was entirely a work - though one that barely anyone knew about ahead of time - and was designed to shoot a match between the two for WrestleMania XXVII. UFC ended up putting the kibosh on that match, but of course, they would eventually fight at WrestleMania XXX.
