10 Wrestling Stables That Never Fulfilled Their Potential
9. The New Brood
Another failed faction featuring the Hardy Boyz. This time, it's the opening years of their careers with the short-lived New Brood. Initially, the Brood was the trio of the vampiric Gangrel and his fraternal minions Edge and Christian, before they went on to define Attitude era tag team wrestling and become individual main eventers in the Ruthless Aggression and PG eras respectively.
The Brood's popularity essentially sums up the Attitude era, with the group's signature "blood baths", New Romantic attires and cheesy fangs earning the love of the fans and a notable main event feud and alliance with Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness.
Meanwhile, when E&C turned face, the original Brood was disbanded. Enter the New Brood... Only spanning just over two months, the then-WWF saw the success of the original Brood and thought by replacing one young, athletic tag team with another, they could replicate their success. They couldn't. Whether it was the fans who simply refused to boo the now-emo Matt and Jeff Hardy, whether it was that they weren't Edge and Christian and were in fact very different personalities, or whether it was simply that the gimmick had run its course, the WWF quickly had cold feet, turning both teams face, pushing Gangrel away from the main event and leaving fans wondering what a fully heel Hardy Boyz would look like for years.
