10 Wrestling Trophies You Need To Know About

6. WWWF Junior Heavyweight Title

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRXYzRsnJYA Wait a second€this isn't a trophy, it€™s a championship belt. The WWWF Junior Heavyweight title was sanctioned by both World Wide Wrestling Federation and New Japan Pro Wrestling beginning in 1967. The championship has a coveted legacy in Japan and was held by such luminaries as Tatsumi Fujinami, Dynamite Kid, and Tiger Mask until its deactivation in 1985. April 16, 1994, NJPW hosted a one night tournament called the Super-J Cup with the top junior heavyweight wrestlers spanning promotions across the globe. The winner would not only receive ultimate bragging rights but was awarded the WWWF Junior Heavyweight title as a trophy. This belt represents the legendary matches between Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask that put cruiserweight wrestling on the map. Wrestlers like Eddie Guerrero, Wild Pegasus (Benoit), Jushin Liger and The Great Sasuke produced what many called the single greatest professional wrestling show. Wild Pegasus would go on to win the tournament, but a plethora of stars were born that night. If you have never seen this event please go watch it ASAP. You€™ll be glad you did.
