10 WWE & AEW Wrestlers Who DESPERATELY Need A New Direction
3. Shayna Baszler
Staying with Smackdown's women's division, Shayna Baszler is a sad representation of its current woes.
Baszler's current role as Ronda Rousey's sidekick is symbolic of the struggles that assailed Smackdown's female superstars in 2022 - chiefly, good ideas marred by terrible execution.
Just as WWE shot itself in the foot over Liv Morgan's horrendously-booked run with the belt, Shayna's potentially constructive stint playing Krypto to Rousey's Supergirl has instead seen the former NXT champion neutered at every turn. Only a few weeks in, Shayna has managed to not only lose every fight she's been in, but also fail to help her boss hold onto the title. Like a kryptonite-poisoned Superdog, this sidekick already needs putting down.
The sad truth is, Shayna has been so badly utilized since her career-derailing loss to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 36 that her Queen of Spades nickname now seems cruelly ironic, as no one has been buried more than her. The current Shayna Baszler is far, far removed from the badass that dominated the NXT women's roster for two years, and it's looking less and less likely we'll ever see her return to her former glory.
