10 WWE & AEW Wrestlers Who DESPERATELY Need A New Direction
4. Charlotte Flair
WWE's latest attempt to make Charlotte babyface seems to be working on the surface, but you'll forgive us if we remain unconvinced.
Yes, the crowds roared their approval for her triumph over Ronda Rousey, and continued to cheer her the week after. However, a notable number of those cheers were piped in, and Ronda Rousey is so universally despised that the crowd would have popped if she'd been dethroned by Santina Marella. (If you don't know who that is - consider yourself lucky).
Appropriately, Charlotte is the polar opposite of her father's perennial nemesis, Ricky Steamboat. Just as The Dragon was the consummate babyface, Charlotte is the quintessential heel. Hell, just look at her actions one week into her latest babyface run - she faced the champion immediately after the latter had gone through a gruelling match, and told the crowd a week later she didn't need their approval. Even when she's on the side of angels, she's still following the devil on her shoulder.
Charlotte is one of the few people working today who can still draw genuine, vicious heat from a crowd, and WWE need to tap into that aspect of her personality. Charlotte works best as the arrogant alpha Queen, and feuding her with one of WWE's top babyface (*coughBiancaBelaircough*) would be instant money.
