10 WWE Attitude Era PPV Matches That Are Severely Underrated

1. Chris Jericho Vs. Chris Benoit - Judgment Day 2000

http://dai.ly/xz51sn There's a pattern growing with the overlooked matches from this era. And it has to do with favoring strategy and ring psychology to flashy aerial maneuvers and random chair shots. Really, any one of Jericho and Benoit's PPV meetings could have gone in this spot, as these two had a series of incredible matches at Backlash, Judgment Day and SummerSlam all in the same year. All of them, unfortunately, are overshadowed by their ladder match at Royal Rumble in 2001. Of the three, the Judgment Day Submission Match wins by a hair if only because of that insane Walls of Jericho overtop the ropes. (Seriously, what in the WHAT?) Also, this submission match was slightly better than the one they had at Backlash, in part because they'd worked out some of the minor kinks they had the first go-round. These two WCW exports were on a mission to get the attention they felt passed them by at their previous company. And although this match may not get the credit it deserves, there's no denying how much chemistry these two had with each other and how efficiently they could execute a match. There's a whole host of crafty submissions sprinkled throughout (...again, that ring ropes Wall of Jericho, you guys!), and there's no part of this match that lacks excitement. Let's be honest: This is only forgotten because WWE wants us to forget everything related to Chris Benoit, right? (Though that sadistic finish with Benoit refusing to release the Crippler Crossface well after the bell is rung is pretty messed up and provides too much of a glimpse into that dude's psyche.)
