10 WWE Backstage Friendships That Paid Off For Huge Career Pushes

5. Sean Waltman And The Kliq

When you examine The Kliq and the legacy of each and every member of the group, there is always one man who sticks out like a sore thumb. That friendship between Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman had a big impact on the WWE in the mid-1990s - and it had a hefty impact on the career of Waltman in particular. The Kliq were notorious for the power they possessed backstage, greatly influencing who won a large bulk of matches at the time they were active. Although Waltman would be wrestling in WCW at the time of the infamous "curtain call" incident at Madison Square Garden, it wouldn't be long before he returned to the WWE as X-Pac. His friendship with Triple H and Michaels enabled him to come back and be thrown into the middle of the most important stable in recent years, D-Generation X. During his time with the WWE, Waltman won a whole host of titles, including the tag titles on a whopping four occasions. He was a guy who clearly had his problems away from the ring, but yet inside it, he enjoyed a great deal of success. And that legendary friendship with the other members of The Kliq gave him a bigger push than he could have achieved anywhere else.
