10 WWE Booking Gimmicks And Characters Other Companies Are Doing Better
1. Neutral Authority
Adam Pearce's role has change dramatically over the past 12 months. Introduced in August 2020, Pearce was the middle-man for the actual decision makers and mediator between competitors, famously "debuting" as the signature-getter of Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns and The Fiend in the runup to Payback.
Since then, he has grown to be part of storylines, reluctantly under the thumb of Roman Reigns, and more recently, clashing (ish) with Brock Lesnar, as he finds himself alongside Sonya Deville as just another authority figure in wrestling.
Meanwhile in Impact Wrestling, Scott D'Amore is living his best life as lead decision-maker whilst not making the story all about him. He was firm but fair setting up Deonna Purrazzo's match with Mickie James at Bound For Glory, played his part as a concerned show-runner during Kenny Omega's run with the Impact World Championship to perfection, hyped up the crowd and the roster following Omega's win after Rebellion with such a particular refinement, and has bumped heads with Tessa Blanchard, Eric Young, Josh Alexander, and Decay.
D'Amore seems to understand his position as Impact VP, both as conduit to get talent over, and to maintain an impartial respectability as the man in charge.
Stephanie McMahon, take note.
