Much like his Intercontinental Title run, Jordan's tenure as Universal Champion is defined by the quality of his matches and his incredible technique in defeating all comers.

Jordan runs through the company's topliners after squeaking past Lesnar yet again in 'The Conqueror's post-SummerSlam rematch.

He takes the title into the 2019 Royal Rumble, where a long-awaited feud with Roman Reigns is set to culminate in a title match between the pair at one of the biggest shows of the year. Roman has remained at odds with large portions of the fanbase despite never officially turning heel during his time underneath Lesnar as Raw's top star, and has gone into the bout accepting that if he cannot dethrone Jordan here, he may never get near the top title again.

In a shocking ending, Kurt Angle makes his return to television following Brock's attack last summer and turns on his own son, allowing Roman Reigns to embrace his inner villain with his ill-gotten Universal Championship.

On the following edition of Raw, he explains how he thought his new bond with Jordan was the best thing to ever happen to him, but had in fact become the total opposite. Suggesting that he was fooled back into physicality because of a 'stupid emotional attachment', he biliously blames his son for losing his GM job, then callously implies that Jordan made the entire thing up just to get a foot on the ladder.

This all leads to a dramatic Father/Son match at WrestleMania 35, in which Jordan conclusively defeats Kurt in an all-time classic to kick off his next year and give Angle one final legendary match on the grandest stage.
