10 WWE Booking Steps To Make Big E A Megastar
8. A Long Run As Intercontinental Champion
Big E's previous Intercontinental Championship reign lasted for 167 days, but let's be honest, how much of it can you actually remember? Maybe that's something to do with the win occurring back in 2013, or maybe it's because he had zero memorable feuds outside of Curtis Axel and Wade Barrett.
Since usurping the so-called real Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn 3 days before Christmas, the now two-time champion hasn't had much chance to prove himself, but that's OK. It's still very early days. Moving forward, he should be positioned as a fighting champion, putting on top-quality matches week after week.
If the end result is a real main event push culminating in a Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 37, then he still needs to be a strong, fighting champion in the build to that. Holding two belts didn't hurt the mystique of the Ultimate Warrior and nor will it for E, provided the championship doesn't simply fade into the background. Give him a long, meaningful run and if you must, have him vacate the secondary title after 28 March.
