Some events should be recorded in human history forever. The moon landing, the advent of the internet, RybAxel splitting up. You know, real life-changing stuff. Not many could've been predicting that Ryback and Curtis Axel would top this list, especially given the topic at hand, but here we are. What's more, they really deserve it for the promo both worked on the 6 November 2014 episode of Superstars.

RybAxel worked their final major match as a team on the 18 August Raw. After that, WWE went with Ryback as more of a singles star again, but that didn't mean they had to ignore Axel. On the 'C' show, creative handed the duo some time to explain why they weren't teaming up together anymore. Throughout, they came across as partners of convenience who had become real-life friends.

This is rarely, if ever, brought up as a sad tag split. That might be due to Ryback meme-ing himself post-WWE, or the fact that Curtis was never going to bother the main event spots full time, but it defo deserves a little love in these pages. One could practically feel the friendship these guys had bouncing off the screen. It was one of the most human and relatable moments of the era.

Few will recall it by default because, y'know, Superstars. The ship had sailed on that being an essential part of any wrestling fan's week long before RybAxel called it a day as a unit. Pretty cool to be able to give the team their due though, can't lie.

At least WWE saw fit to give them this moment.
