What Happened: If you were ever in doubt over whether WWE was a family product, let this insane spectacle put you in your place. Thrust back into the public eye thanks to their 2011 Hollywood reboot, The Muppets were given a new lease of life in the media – and obviously, WWE took advantage.

What followed was a series of straight-up surreal segments featuring the likes of Santino, The Miz, Christian and, in an absolute show-stealer, Sheamus interacting with, and there really is no other way to put this, a bunch of puppets.

The Reality Era, ladies and gentlement. It was ultimately deemed such a success that the Muppets returned to the ring in 2012.

Why It Worked: Maybe because the Muppets are f*cking awesome?! Look, we're all WWE fans here, so let's not kid ourselves: there are at least two or three occasions every single week on Raw where logic is chucked out the window like a wasp with bad body odour.

We all know this. We all still tune in every week. If we can buy that The Undertaker is able to step toe to toe with Brock Lesnar in 2015, then we can also sit back, shut the hell up and appreciate a felt pig flirting with a muscle-bound wrestler. The E is for Entertainment, folks. ENTERTAINMENT.
