Former WWE writer Kevin Eck revealed that in 2014 there were once plans for Justin Bieber to step into a WWE ring.

WWE were close to signing the world’s biggest pop star to participate in a match at that year’s SummerSlam that would have headlined the event. Remarkably, the plan was for Bieber to tag with John Cena and Big Show against Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. How WWE would have booked for the teen sensation to tackle Eater of Worlds Bray and his creepy cult Wyatt Family in promos is anyone’s guess.

The storyline supposedly would have gone with Cena getting more and more annoyed with the obnoxious Bieber in the run-up to SummerSlam, with Show playing peacekeeper between the two. Then, after Cena’s team won and Justin took all the credit for the win, Cena would lay Bieber out with an AA for a big pop from the crowd. Eck admits that he (rightfully) had reservations about Bieber playing babyface, given WWE fans would have unmercifully booed him out of the building. There was also talk whether it would be a bad PR move on WWE’s part to work with Bieber who was having multiple public and personnel issues at the time.

In the end, Justin Bieber didn’t wrestle for WWE due to this and instead Cena got 16 German Suplexes from Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
