10 WWE Champions Who Deserved Longer Runs
7. Kane
In a sense, Kane doesn’t really need a belt. Like Bray Wyatt in his Fiend persona after him, Kane’s innate monstrousness transcends WWE championships. It doesn’t really compute that the Big Red Machine, who in kayfabe is this tortured psychopath who exists solely to dish out pain, would be all that bothered about winning the title.
And yet, with all that Glenn Jacobs has given to the business, it’s a shame he was never given a decent run with the top belt. Kane has usually been booked pretty well throughout his career, lingering near the top of the card for most of it. There’s no denying his in ring ability, nor the impact of his character when used properly.
When he has held the gold, it has never lasted any decent length of time. He boasts one reasonably lengthy run in his twilight years, which seems like a thank you for time served, and was pretty incident free. His sole win at the peak of his career lasted a whopping 24 hours.
