10 WWE Character Traits That Humiliated Wrestlers

7. Buddy Rose “Blows Away” Fat

Rey Mysterio Eddie Guerrero

Buddy Rose was a respected veteran of the ropes when he returned for a third WWF spell in 1990. By that point, the ex-NWA hand had gained significant weight. Instead of, y'know, trying to encourage exercise, Vince McMahon exploited the weight gain and even made being flabby Buddy's gimmick.

Then, they booked the "Blow Away Diet".

Vignettes aired of Rose caking himself in a fine white powder (careful). Then, he'd sit in front of a fan and literally blow off the pounds. The gag here was that Buddy looked exactly the same after each session as he had going in. What a gas, right?

Keep in mind that this happened during the body-obsessed early-90s. Brutes like Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and Dino Bravo were still walking around. Then, there was Rose - a portly gent who deserved to be lambasted for having a bulging belly instead of bulging muscles.

Presumably, Buddy was up for this gimmick, but it was still humiliating.
