What likes sweaters, looks like the jocks from Rockstar's Bully video game and hails from the "mean streets" of Greenwich, Connecticut? Why it's the Mean Street Posse, otherwise known as Shane McMahon's pals. Joey Abs, Rodney and Pete Gas were introduced on 22 March 1999 as Shane's new heavies.

They were a short-term counterpoint to X-Pac's D-Generation X.

The Posse existed so McMahon had backup in the fight against Pac's degenerates (at least before Triple H turned on his old running buddy at WrestleMania XV). They were jobbers, to be blunt, and had limited prospects beyond stiffing fools for Shane-O, but it was a nice gig for three guys who had just stumbled onto the roster.

Later, the WWF tried to repeat the trick by having the Posse back Shane up against Test. It wasn't quite the same though, and they quickly dwindled in importance. By 2000, Abs, Rodney and Gas were hardcore division extras who didn't have much purpose.
