10 WWE Disasters That Became Life-Changing Moments
5. A Crummy Promo Brings Paul Heyman Back
You've surely forgotten a weak face-to-face promo skit Brock Lesnar worked with John Laurinaitis on the 9 April 2012 Raw. This writer had too, but stumbled across the resultant pull apart between Brock and John Cena from that same show, and fancied seeing the set up. It...wasn't great.
Brock's verbal chops were naff, so he personally asked old manager Paul Heyman to come back into the fold. That wasn't in Paul or WWE's original plans, because there was still some bad blood hanging over from Heyman's exit back in 2006. People would have to swallow some pride on both sides, but they made it work.
That was a boost to Lesnar and a life-changing moment for Paul. He showed himself to be the best manager of the modern era, and even enjoyed another successful stint alongside CM Punk that raised his profile further. Today, Heyman is a key part of Roman Reigns' Bloodline business.
None of that happens without Brock realising he wasn't capable of doing his own talking in 2012.
