10 WWE Divas Who Deserve More Recognition

4. Alundra Blayze

Alundra Blayze is possibly one of the greatest American female wrestlers of all time, and unfortunately it's never going to be the first thing people think of. Blayze started out in the Verne Gagne's AWA as Madusa, first feuding with Sherri Martel, and later took on a managerial role along with her wrestling duties. From there she would go to All Japan Pro Wrestling, and then WCW, where she joined Paul Heyman's Dangerous Alliance. In 1993, WWF reinstated their Women's Division, and signed Madusa to be its star, under the name Alundra Blayze. Fairly quickly, it was apparent that Blayze was head and shoulders above her peers in WWF, so they brought in the woman who would be her arch-rival, Bull Nakano. Together the pair would tear it up whenever they fought, and had what many consider to be the greatest women's wrestling match at SummerSlam of 1994. Around this time, Eric Bischoff was looking to score any points he could over WWF in the burgeoning Monday Night War. Blayze was released from WWF, but she had kept hold of their title. After some coaxing, she was convinced to appear on WCW Monday Nitro and drop the championship in a trash can. Unfortunately, WCW's plans for a Women's division of their own never caught on, there were only ever two WCW Women's Champions, neither of them Madusa. While she is doing quite well for herself these in the undeniably awesome field of monster truck driving, it's a shame that such a great wrestler will only ever be remembered for a publicity stunt.
