10 WWE Employees Humiliated On The Air

3. DDP

Diamond Dallas Page called himself the 'People's Champion' in WCW. Whether he was deliberately aping The Rock's own nickname or not, there was truth to it. DDP had earned everyone's respect by rising from cartoonish manager to deserved main-eventer, and he was surely excited to see what he could do in the WWF.

Be completely recast as a weirdo stalker, that's what.

Being a WCW headliner wasn't enough, apparently. Vince McMahon wanted Page to play a new character when he joined the company, and his creative vision chipped away at DDP's connection with fans until there was barely anything left. That was true long before The Undertaker's then-wife Sara pinned him on the 20 August 2001 Raw.

There's no shame in a female wrestler looking good, but Sara wasn't actually a wrestler, and this wasn't Charlotte Flair holding her own against one of the boys. This was a counterproductive booking ploy that made DDP an acronym for 'Doesn't Deserve Pride'.
