10 WWE Face Turns That Ultimately Failed

8. The DiBiase Posse Was Crippled By Injuries - 2011

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c3NiT864oY Believe it or not, the original plan for the Legacy breakup in early 2010 was for Ted DiBiase to be the star of the group. He had already filmed the sequel to the Marine, and WWE was going to put a rocket up Ted€™s backside to set him up for a main event spot. But as the slow burn of the breakup took place, the crowd reaction was overwhelmingly in Randy Orton€™s favor, and WWE changed directions and decided to give the babyface push to Orton rather than DiBiase. After Legacy€™s breakup, Ted hovered over the mid- and lower-card, bringing back the Million Dollar Championship and recreating a poor man€™s version (pun intended) of his father€™s original gimmick. After a losing streak, DiBiase was drafted to Smackdown where he served as a lackey for his former Legacy partner, Cody Rhodes, who had been given a big push. After a brief association, Rhodes attacked DiBiase, who then turned babyface and challenged Cody at Night of Champions 2011 for the Intercontinental Championship. Afterwards, Ted introduced €œThe DiBiase Posse,€ where he would meet up with his Twitter followers before shows and host tailgating parties. It was actually a nice way of drumming up fan involvement (almost like a modern day Lex Express, without the cheesiness), but DiBiase could never get any momentum in storylines. A serious ankle injury put Ted out for most of 2012, and by the time he was healthy enough to return, creative didn€™t have anything for him. He didn€™t re-sign his contract in 2013, and has wrestled sporadically since.
