10 WWE Fake News Stories We All Believed

Many fans wanted to believe that AJ Styles versus Shawn Michaels was going to happen, in the same way that many people want to believe that Father Christmas is real.

At this point, though, neither seems particularly likely. You can see why we got our hopes up, sort of. The Royal Rumble was emanating from HBK's hometown of San Antonio, Texas, and AJ Styles - then-WWE Champion - needed an opponent (and who better than the man to whom he was being compared?)

And... oh yeah, AJ actually posted a mocked-up poster depicting the two of them nose-to-nose on Twitter.

But he was only teasing us. Either that or he hoped that Michaels, seeing the excitement it generated on social media, would be inexorably drawn back into his wrestling boots.

Whatever the case, we were left disappointed.
