10 WWE Fan Reactions That Had A Serious Effect On A Wrestler
1. WWE Fans Say 'Goodbye' To Lesnar And Goldberg (2004)
When Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg were finally booked to collide on the Grandest Stage of Them All back in 2004, initially fans were salivating at the prospect of these two explosive stars meeting in a ring. Hell, they even roped in 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin as a special guest referee!
What could go wrong?
Well, in the run up to the Show of Shows fans became aware of both men's intentions to leave the company after their scheduled clash at 'Mania XX. So, when the pair finally came face-to-face inside of Madison Square Garden, chants of 'You sold out', 'Na Na Na, Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye' and 'This match sucks' were relentlessly fired Lesnar and Goldberg's way.
Instead of ignoring the backlash and going out on a high, the juggernauts produced one of the most painful matches either have ever been a part of. Eventually the defiant slog was brought to an end by a Goldberg Jackhammer.
After losing his last WWE match for some time, Lesnar let the fans, Austin (and Vince McMahon) know exactly what he thought of them and gave them all the finger for their troubles.
Austin subsequently stunning both men after the bout at least gave the fans something to cheer about, but both Goldberg and Lesnar were in no rush to return to a WWE ring after being so openly rejected by a fanbase which once fully embraced them.
